It is the Process of stealing someone’s identity information and misusing the information to accomplish attacker’s goals for fraudulent purposes such as committing theft and crimes. .e.g. using someone else’s N.I.C. to register More vulnerable due to exponential increase in e-commerce services, online services, e-transactions, online trading, etc.

  • Your online accounts being blocked due to malicious/suspicious activities or logged access location and time at which you didn’t access.
How to minimize the risk?
  • Secure personal information both at workplace and home.
  • Secure or shred confidential documents.
  • Never provide your personal information to others.
  • Be suspicious of and verify all requests for personal data.
  • Protect your personal information from being publicized.
  • Secure digital devices with anti-threat technologies.
  • Unsubscribe from unnecessary email services.
  • Create strong, complex & unique passwords that cannot be guessed.
  • Get your mailbox locked or rent a mailbox in the post office.
  • Secure your personal PC or any digital device with a firewall, antivirus, and anti-key loggers.
  • Be careful of what you share on social media Cross check your financial accounts and bank statements regularly, review your credit reports regularly and never let your cards out of your sight.
